The Honolulu Board of Water Supply restored water service to affected customers in Kaneohe Wednesday after a 16-inch transmission main that feeds three reservoirs broke.

Water pressure should be back to normal this morning, said spokeswoman Kymber-Lee Char.
Windward Community College, Hawaii Pacific University’s Hawaii Loa campus, Kaneohe Elementary School and Ke Kula o Samuel M. Kamakau public charter school, and Kaneohe District Court were closed Wednesday because of the water outage. All the buildings were to reopen today.

BWS spokesman Kurt Tsue said he could not estimate the number of affected customers, mostly residential between the HPU Hawaii Loa campus and Heeia. Because of the gravity-fed system, some customers continued with water service while others on the same street in a lower service area did not.

The state Judiciary said traffic citations due Wednesday could be paid online or at other district courts.
But court appearances were to be rescheduled.

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents meeting scheduled for Windward Community College was held Wednesday, a WCC campus security officer said.

46-206 Kamehameha Highway. Most of the affected customers had water service restored when pressure was restored to the system, BWS said.

A roving water wagon was provided. Repairs to the 16-inch water main were expected to last through Wednesday evening.  The water outage was first reported at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
