No. 9 Hawaii tops San Diego State in volleyball

UH Wahine Emily Hartong powered up at the net against San Diego Aztecs Michelle Waber and Andrea Hannasch during tonight's match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Jane Croson put down a team-high 21 kills and the ninth-ranked Hawaii women’s volleyball team overcame a slow start to defeat San Diego State 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15 in tonight’s second match of the Verizon Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center. 

Ali Longo had 22 digs and Jade Vorster was in on six blocks for the Rainbow Wahine (6-1).

Hawaii will face Idaho in Saturday’s second match. The Vandals (2-6) were swept by No. 3 UCLA (4-1) in today’s first match 25-16, 25-13, 25-13. 

Summer Nash led the Aztecs (5-1) with 21 kills and Andrea Hannasch added 10. Kristi Jackels had a match-high 23 digs.
