No. 9 Hawaii sweeps Idaho in volleyball
Junior hitter Emily Hartong put down 11 kills and No. 9 Hawaii played nearly perfect early in sweeping Idaho 25-11, 25-14, 25-16 in Saturday’s second match of the Verizon Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine (7-1) had no hitting errors in Set 1 and just one in Set 2 en route to the 76-minute sweep of their former Western Athletic Conference opponent.
Junior hitter Ashley Kastl added 10 kills for Hawaii, which will face No. 3 UCLA (5-1) in Sunday’s second match for the tournament title. In Saturday’s first match, the Bruins swept San Diego State (5-2) 25-11, 25-20, 25-18.
The Aztecs and Vandals (2-7) meet Sunday at 3 p.m. to determine third place.
