Robbery suspect linked to 5 heists
The man wanted for robbing a Ward-area store on Monday may have robbed four other Honolulu businesses in recent weeks, Honolulu police said Friday.
CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department have offered a $1,000 reward for information about the armed robbery at Rix Island Wear on Ala Moana Boulevard.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, and between 30 and 40 years old.
The same person is believed to have robbed Posh Liquor on Kaiulani Avenue earlier Monday. He is also a suspect in the robbery of Walgreens on Kapiolani Boulevard on Aug. 18, the robbery of a clothing store on Kalakaua Avenue on Saturday and the attempted robbery of Alicia’s Market in Kalihi on Wednesday.

Man who fled, causing crash, gets 15 years
A Hilo man who injured an elderly woman in a traffic collision in Panaewa two years ago while trying to evade police in a stolen car has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported Friday that Circuit Judge Glenn Hara sentenced Alexander Borero III, 34, for attempted first-degree assault.
Borero was sentenced to another five years for auto theft and second-degree negligent injury, with the sentence to run consecutively to the term he’s serving for bail jumping and auto theft. That term ends in November 2015.
Police were seeking Borero for bail jumping and contempt of court when officers stopped him on Aug. 15, 2010, in a stolen Honda in Hawaiian Paradise Park. Police say Borero reversed the Honda at an officer and dragged him a few feet.
The officer was not seriously injured.
According to police, at Mamaki Street and Highway 11, Borero struck a Volcano-bound Toyota so forcefully the Honda was torn in half. The Toyota’s front-seat passenger, Hiroko Kawaoka of Hilo, 86 at the time, was injured but recovered.
