» Spin your most haunting tale of horror and the supernatural in our annual Halloween Fiction Contest. Entries are limited to 650 words and must be original work never before published. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize, and the story will appear in the Today section on Oct. 28. The deadline for entries is Oct. 15. One entry per person.

»â€ˆMake your own scary movie in our inaugural Halloween Video Contest. Entries should not exceed five minutes and must comprise original content that has not appeared elsewhere. Videos with excessive gore or violence will not be considered. The deadline to enter is Oct. 15.
Upload entries to YouTube and email the URL to features@staradvertiser.com, along with information on the video and the filmmakers. Multiple entries will not be accepted.
The winner, chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a $300 cash prize. Results will be announced Oct. 28. The judges’ decision is final. Finalists for a separate People’s Choice award will be announced Oct. 19, with the winner determined by the highest number of YouTube views between noon Oct. 19 and noon Oct. 23.
Both contests are open to Hawaii residents only; Oahu Publications Inc. contributors, employees and their family members are not eligible.

By entering the contests, you grant the Honolulu Star-Advertiser a royalty-free license to display and otherwise use your story or video. Winners’ names and photos will appear in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and on honolulupulse.com.
