Girl injured after falling off pickup truck
Police are investigating an incident involving a 17-year-old girl who apparently fell off the back of a pickup truck early Friday morning in Ala Moana Park.
Paramedics took the girl to the hospital in serious condition shortly after 4 a.m.
No other details were available.
Neighbor’s quick action helps nab suspect
Quick work by an alert neighbor resulted in the arrest of a man, 24, who apparently burglarized a Moanalua Valley home Thursday afternoon.
Police said the woman witnessed two men stealing a television from her neighbor’s carport on Ala Lani Street at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
They refused to stop when she yelled at them, but she alerted police and provided them with a description of the suspects and their vehicle, police said.
Police located the vehicle and a suspect walking out of it on Koapaka Street about 20 minutes later. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was caught by officers, police said.
Police also discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from Moanalua earlier.
The suspect, of Ewa Beach, is being held for investigation of charges of burglary and operating a stolen vehicle.
A second suspect remains at large.
Student accused of threatening teacher
A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly threatened a teacher at a Wahiawa public school.
The suspect threatened the 47-year-old female teacher with bodily harm, police said. The incident occurred at 11:20 a.m.
The school was not identified by the police.
Hawaii island man charged in burglaries
Hawaii County police charged a 22-year-old Hilo man Friday in connection with burglaries in Kona and Hilo.
Kawika Larinaga-Napihaa was arrested Sept. 13 with two other suspects in a parking lot in Hilo after police found a firearm in the vehicle they were in.
Police also recovered from the vehicle a second firearm allegedly stolen in a Hilo burglary, as well as a laptop allegedly stolen in a Kona burglary, police said.
Police charged Larinaga-Napihaa with two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree theft and two firearm charges.
His bail was set at $96,000.

Man charged in break-in
Hawaii County police have changed a Honokaa man in an Aug. 23 home break-in.
Sam Ryelan Perez was charged Friday with one count of first-degree burglary and one count of second-degree theft. He is being held in a police cellblock on $35,000 bail.
Shortly before 4 p.m. a Honokaa woman called police and reported that her home had been entered and that several items were missing. Police said a neighbor saw a man running through adjacent yards and recognized Perez.
