Woman treated for smoke inhalation after fire at youth detention facility
Paramedics treated a worker at the Hale Ho’omalu Juvenile Detention Facilty in Kapolei after a fire damaged a gas-powered dryer at the facility Saturday night.
Fire Capt. Carlton Yamada said a woman in her 30s, who had a prior astma condition, required medical attention after the 9:08 p.m. fire.
Yamada said the fire was confined to the commercial dryer and its contents. Damage was estimated at $2,500.
