The Pacific Buddhist Academy will recognize inspirational people and organizations that exemplify the leadership principles and values taught at the college preparatory school at its annual "Lighting Our Way" Awards Dinner on Sept. 28.
No-host cocktails start at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Waialae Country Club, with a silent auction and activities led by academy students and faculty.
Honorees who exemplify compassion and an awareness of the interdependence of all things include John Dean, president and CEO of Central Pacific Bank; Shimeji Kanazawa, aging advocate and co-founder of Project Dana; Fujio Matsuda, former president of the University of Hawaii and state director of transportation; and Jo Chang and Susie Roth, co-founders of Da Moms, a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender family support group.
