Police officer injured during arrest of bar fight suspect

A Honolulu police officer was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital Saturday night after a man pushed an officer, assaulted another, and two additional suspects tried to prevent the officers from arresting the man, police said.

Police responded to a bar in the Keeaumoku area around 11 p.m. Saturday following an alleged assault that involved one of the three suspects, a 29-year-old Honolulu man, police said.

The suspect fled the scene, so witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Police located him a short distance away at Keeaumoku Street and Wilder Avenue.

While two officers were conducting an investigation, a 34-year-old Nuuanu man allegedly pushed one of them and assaulted the other. The 29-year-old assault suspect and a 28-year-old Liliha woman then attempted to stop the officers from arresting him by pushing the officers away, police said.

All three suspects were arrested after a brief struggle, and only one of the officers was treated for injuries, police said.

The 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of harassment and one count each of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest; the 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, harassment and resisting arrest; and the 28-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of harassment and resisting arrest, according to police records.
