Store to hold sale at Palolo Hongwanji
Nui Mono is offering a jump on holiday shopping with its Nui Mono and Girlfriends sale event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Palolo Hongwanji, 1641 Palolo Ave.
Shoppers will be able to find wearable-art clothing by Wendy Kim Messier, Nui Mono, Pitacus and Kim Kono; one-of-a-kind jewelry by Deborah Kaneshiro, Sherrie Rupert, Cora Yee and Teru; Asian-inspired handcrafted gifts and purses by Wabi Sabi, Bev Seki and Kim Kono; woven shawls and pet gifts by Donna Miyashiro; ceramics by Marie Kodama; and luscious treats by Deanna’s Delights and Sweet Charlotte, including such new offerings as French Apple Cake, Hawaiian Mac Nut Shortbread Cookies, Hawaiian Mac Nut Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies and Pumpkin Crunch made from scratch.

Night Market will convene in Kakaako
A new monthly event spotlighting innovative food, drink, fashion, music, art, shopping and entertainment launches Saturday in the heart of Kakaako at 683 Auahi St.
The Honolulu Night Market, presented by Kamehameha Schools and Street Grindz, runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, featuring DJ Rekha, the T&C Surf Skate Team, a fashion show styled by Lindsey Higa of PineappleIce.com, artists Jasper Wong, Aaron Padilla, Jamie R. Allen and Maika‘i Tubbs, a hookah lounge, street performers and a photo booth by Photo Ops Hawaii.
Food trucks and pop-up restaurants will be provided by chef Mark Noguchi, Miso & Ale, Pig and the Lady, Bentos Mochi and Delectables, Ono Empanadas, La Cosecha and Baja Style. A full bar will be set up in the "premium" area.
Vendors include Imi Jewelry, Pure Joy Adornments, Organik Clothing, Hex By Fetu, Genuine Guava, LMS Boutique, No Ka Oink, Calieco and Love Burd Denim.
Admission is $2 for all ages; premium access for 21 and over is $15.

$10 haircuts aid cancer foundation
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and to help, Mojo Barbershop is hosting a $10 Haircut Day on Sunday to benefit the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The barbershop also will accept donations; people who give $5 or more will receive 10 percent off their next service.
All of the donations and haircut fees will go to the Cancer Foundation. The goal is to raise $3,000.

Angels by the Sea to hold event on Monday
Angels by the Sea Hawaii is presenting "Anela 2: A Smile for Angels" from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
There will be light pupu and refreshments from Che Pasta, Uncle Bo’s Restaurant and Kokoa Bar. Guests will be able to sample new products and see new styles by local designers and artists, with guest appearances by beauty queens past and present. There will be gift bags and door prizes, including a stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, which houses the boutique.
Angels by the Sea will offer a discount on its handmade resort wear and Hawaii- and ocean-inspired jewelry throughout October for those who make a donation to the Domestic Violence Action Center, which offers a legal help line, victim advocacy, outreach to teen victims of dating violence and other services to victims of domestic violence. Vendors’ sales to benefit Dress for Success
The YWCA of O‘ahu will present Downtown Decadence 2012, "Persimmon and Posh," including a Glam Gown sale of gently used garments, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 4.
The evening of shopping will feature 12 vendors offering jewelry, infant clothing, cosmetics and glassware, with pupu prepared by Team Cafe Julia.
Proceeds will go directly to programs such as Dress for Success Honolulu, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The organization has helped more than 3,000 women create a good first impression at job interviews, thanks to career clothing donated by local businesswomen. Downtown Decadence is the place where others’ neglected formal wear, gowns, cocktail and party dresses can get a second life helping women get ready for the holiday season.
A silent auction will feature decadent wines and desserts.
