Suspect charged in beating death of Makakilo man

    Honolulu police released this mugshot of Royce Gouveia, 27, who has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the beating death of 29-yeaer-old Albert Meyer.

Police charged a 27-year-old homeless man on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the beating death of a 29-year-old Makakilo man.

Albert Meyer died Saturday after paramedics took him to the hospital Thursday in critical condition. 

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified Meyer on Monday and said he died from injuries sustained in an assault.

Police found Meyer unconscious on a Makakilo sidewalk at about 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police arrested Royce Gouveia, of no local address, at noon Monday at 84-675 Lahaina St. in Makaha, the former home of Christopher K. Medeiros.

Gouveia was charged this afternoon and is being held at the police cell block in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Medeiros was shot in the face Sept. 12 and died the next day after being taken to the hospital. Chad Duran, 27, was charged with second-degree murder. Duran’s bail was set at $750,000. His Circuit Court trial is slated for the week of Nov. 26.
