Artisanal market at Williams-Sonoma
Williams-Sonoma at Ala Moana Center will bring producers of artisanal items to the store on Saturday.
Among the items for sale will be 100 percent Kau-grown coffee, unprocessed Molokai honey, Hawaiian Happy Cakes, Hawaiian Nougat, fruit preserves and Waikiki Mint Limeade, with mint from Waimanalo.

Lemongrass Café holds benefit dinner
Enjoy a special Burmese dinner at Lemongrass Café Saturday when chef Aye Aye Maw whips up her culinary delights to benefit Aloha Medical Mission’s work in Myanmar (formerly Burma).
The 6 p.m. dinner at Pacific Gateway Center has been expanded to accommodate 100 guests.
The menu will include fishcake salad with kaffir lime leaves and fresh cabbage, pumpkin with shrimp, cucumber salad with sesame seeds, coconut chicken noodle soup, and tapioca stuffed with water chestnuts and coconut.
Tickets are $50 ($30 tax-deductible), with reservations.

Isle farmers discuss ups and downs

Chefs set to cook at HFD headquarters
Enjoy some of the favorite dishes of Honolulu’s firefighters at the third annual Signature Chefs Food Festival, a benefit for the Honolulu Firefighters Foundation, on Oct. 12.
The event will also feature dishes from the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiolani Community College, Farrington High School’s Aloha Learning Center and restaurants such as 12th Avenue Grill, Beachhouse at the Moana, Chai’s Island Bistro, Mariposa, Poke Stop, Roy’s, Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, Side Street Inn and Tango Contemporary Cafe.

Cook mushrooms with Kahala chefs
Learn some new and sophisticated ways to prepare mushroom dishes at Kahala Hotel & Resort’s "Mushrooms and Montrachet" cooking classes this month.

Kailua High athletes offer space in imu
The Kailua High School Athletic Program will tend an imu and is offering space inside for trays of food.
Food goes into the underground oven on Nov. 21, emerging the next morning — Thanksgiving day — steamed full of luau flavor.
Cost is $20 per large aluminum tray. Food — such as whole turkeys, roasts or pork butt (meat chunks should have three deep cuts in them), sweet potatoes, taro or luau leaves — must be thawed, seasoned and well wrapped in foil. Drop in pan and wrap again in foil. Weight limit per tray is 25 pounds.
Reservations due by Nov. 12. Make checks payable to Kailua High School and send to the school, 451 Ulumanu Drive, Kailua 96734. Write "Attention IMU" in lower left corner of the envelope. Include name, telephone number and a self-addressed, stamped envelope so a confirmation ticket can be sent to you. To be included in an email list for future imu, provide email address as well.
