A 27-year-old man arrested following a robbery in Kapalama early Tuesday morning may also be a suspect in several other cases.

The man, who gave police the address for the Institute for Human Services on Sumner Street as his home, was arrested while in a taxi cab near Nimitz Highway and Alakea Street about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday.

At 1:55 a.m., a 24-hour convenience store near Nimitz and Alakawa Street was robbed by a man who claimed to have a gun but did not produce one.

The suspect fled east on Nimitz toward Lowe’s with an undisclosed amount of cash but then apparently hopped into a cab, police said.

The man who was later arrested in a taxi cab by patrol officers is being held on one count of first-degree robbery, may also be a suspect in other recent robberies, police said.
