Honolulu police reopened Kamokila Boulevard in front of the Kapolei substation after earlier shutting it down as a safety precaution as a bomb squad investigated ordnance left in front of the station.

Kamokila was closed between Wakea and Manawai Streets shortly after 1 a.m. but reopened about an hour later.

Police said someone left what appeared to be “old and rusty” ordnance by the flag pole in the substation’s parking lot.

Officers from HPD’s Specialized Services Division were called to the scene. “They’re all old and rusty. Most of them are hollow. We’re just being on the safe side,” an officer said. “They’re probably not live.”
