Wahine beat UC Davis in four sets
Ninth-ranked Hawaii remained unbeaten in its return to Big West Conference volleyball, defeating UC Davis, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16, Thursday before 3,724 at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine upped their record to 16-2 and have won their past nine — all in conference. The Aggies, who came here in a four-way tie for third, dropped to 10-11 and 4-4.
It was the first time the teams have played.
After a slow start, UH junior Emily Hartong put down a match-high 18 kills. Transfer Ashley Kastl added a season-high 17 digs and 11 kills, hitting .455. Freshman Tai Manu-Olevao had nine kills on .348 hitting.
Davis was led by Allison Whitson and Devon Damello with 13 kills apiece.
The Wahine take the NCAA’s longest conference winning streak — 64 — into Saturday’s match against Pacific.
