Honolulu police are investigating allegations by children of two 25th Infantry Division soldiers that they were kidnapped and beaten at a home in Schofield Barracks last week.
Two boys, ages 14 and 12, told police they went to a Schofield Barracks home Saturday to watch movies.
The 14-year-old told police that he was kneed and punched in the face. The injuries were so severe that his jaw was broken.
The 12-year-old said he had his head forced into a bucket of ice water.
Both boys told police that they were burned with salt and ice.
The incident was reported to authorities two days after the alleged attack and involves an 18-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl who live with their parents off Schofield Barracks, police said. A third alleged attacker — a 14-year-old boy — lives on post.
Dennis Drake, Schofield Barracks spokesman, said: "The Army is actively looking into this incident and working with HPD (the Honolulu Police Department) to ascertain the facts. We’re also looking into allegations that it was reported to MPs.
"The Army takes all allegations and incidents of hazing, bullying and assault extremely seriously, whether on or off our installations," Drake said.
The fathers of both victims are off island — one soldier is training in Texas, and the other is deployed to Afghanistan.
The case is being handled by the Honolulu Police Department, which has opened an investigation into possible kidnapping, assault and terroristic threatening charges.
Drake said even if offenders and victims live on base and the crime happened on base, it is still HPD’s jurisdiction if the crime involves family members and not the enlisted soldier.
