Hanauma Bay reopens to beachgoers
Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve has reopened after the city Ocean Safety Division saw no unusual tidal changes this morning, a spokeswoman for the Department of Emergency Services said.
Lifeguards noticed unusual tides on Sunday following Saturday night’s tsunami, said Shayne Enright, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Emergency Services.
The city reopened other beaches on Sunday, but kept Hanauma Bay closed.
Tsunami waves can be amplified in bays and harbors.
The city reopened the beach at noon.
