Taaca, UH soccer team earn tie in season finale
Senior goalkeeper Kanani Taaca recorded a personal-best 15 saves in her final career match and the Hawaii women’s soccer team earned a scoreless tie today in its season finale at UC Irvine.
Amazingly, UCI outshot UH 34-3 and had nothing to show for it. The biggest of Taaca’s saves was on an Anteaters penalty kick five minutes into the first of two overtime periods. Her previous career best was nine saves.
UH finished its second season under coach Michele Nagamine at 8-9-3, and 3-5-1 in the Rainbow Wahine’s debut season in the Big West Conference. UCI moved to 9-8-4 and 5-1-3.
The sixth-place Wahine were out of contention for the four-team BWC tournament entering the week.
