Pearl City High School went into lockdown this afternoon after several fights broke out.

Pearl City High School was on lockdown for about two hours today following several fights on campus.

Principal Carlyn Fujimoto said a large fight occurred during lunch that prompted school officials to call police and order students to their classrooms.

She said police arrested one student for his “disorderly conduct.”

Meanwhile, two students were taken to the hospital: one after being restrained, a second because she was hyperventilating, Fujimoto said.

The school was on lockdown, with students confined to their classrooms, from about 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., when school let out.

Fujimoto said the school wasl investigating what caused the fight, and how many students will need to be disciplined.

She also said the fight did not appear to be related to a skirmish on campus between two girls that occurred earlier in the day.

Pearl City High has about 1,700 students.
