Hawaii 12th at Warrior-Wave tourney
The Hawaii men’s golf team is in 12th place after Monday’s first round of the inaugural Warrior-Wave Intercollegiate tournament at the St. Regis Princeville Resort’s Makai Golf Club on Kauai
The co-host Hawaii A team posted a team total of 300 and the Warriors B team carded a 325 score, good for 16th place. Georgia Southern grabbed the first-round lead with a 283.
Tommy Yamashita leads the Warriors after a 1-over 73, good for a tie for 24th place. Nainoa Calip (75), Cory Oride (76), David Saka (76) and Ryan Kuroiwa (77) rounded out the scoring for Hawaii’s A squad.
UC Santa Barbara’s Amol Mahal, East Tennessee State’s Adrian Meronk and Xavier’s Korey Ward share the first-round individual lead after firing 4-under 68s.
Foy, Jackson named Wendy’s winners
Reece Foy of the ‘Iolani football team and Brittany Jackson of the Radford track and field team were honored as Hawaii’s Wendy’s High School Heisman winners Monday.
Following the announcement of Hawaii’s 20 finalists last week, Foy and Jackson were selected to compete for the national award.
