Police seek ID of dead man
Hawaii County police are trying to determine the identity of a body found over the weekend at a secluded Kau beach.
At 10:27 a.m. Saturday a boater who landed at Waikini Beach north of South Point discovered the body at a campsite.
Police found the remains of a male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with long brown hair. He was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Brown hiking shoes and socks were located at the campsite, along with a blue backpack and white plastic grocery bags filled with empty food cans and soft drink containers.
An autopsy conducted Monday showed no evidence of foul play. The cause of death was undetermined.
Detectives said the man may have died one or two weeks before his body was discovered.
Police ask that anyone who knows of someone missing who fits the description of the remains or who has information about a possible identity call Lt. Gerald Wike at 326-4646, ext. 266.
Crash victim was Delta worker
The Honolulu medical examiner has identified the motorist who died in a fiery crash in Central Oahu on Oct. 28 as Nolan Raboy, 65, of Haleiwa.
Raboy was sitting behind the wheel of his sport utility vehicle on Wilikina Drive waiting for police to reopen roadways following last month’s tsunami warning when a pickup truck rammed the back of his vehicle, causing it to burst into flames.
The driver of the pickup, Donald Halleron, 29, pleaded not guilty in state court Thursday morning to negligent homicide and driving without a license. He appeared by teleconference from Oahu Community Correctional Center where he remains, unable to post $200,000 bail. He is scheduled to stand trial in January.
Raboy, an aircraft technician for Delta Airlines, listed a Huntington Beach, Calif., address but lived in Haleiwa when in Hawaii for work.
