Missing prisoner turns self in
A 43-year-old Laumaka Work Furlough Center inmate failed to return from furlough on Saturday and now faces an escape charge.
Jeffrey Andrzejewski, who was sentenced in 2007 for first-degree burglary, second-degree theft and kidnapping, was allowed to leave the Kalihi facility on a day pass to spend time with family. When he didn’t return at 8 p.m. Saturday, Laumaka officials notified the Sheriff’s Department.
Andrzejewski turned himself in to police Tuesday. He was transferred to Laumaka in April and had a parole hearing set for Nov. 20.
Woman found unconscious
Fire rescue personnel Tuesday searched for and found a missing 70-year-old woman who was found unconscious in a vacant parcel of land in Ahuimanu.
Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the woman was gathering fruit. Fire crews found her 50 to 75 feet off Ahuimanu Place.
Emergency Medical Services reported that the woman was taken in critical condition to an area hospital at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday.
