Kamilah Martin scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Hawaii women’s basketball team defeated Tennessee-Martin 73-69 today at the Stan Sheriff Center for the first victory under new coach Laura Beeman.

UH (1-1) continues the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic on Saturday against No. 4 Stanford, which upset top-ranked Baylor in the first game of the round-robin tournament.

The Rainbow Wahine got big bench production from guard Kanisha Bello, who scored 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting in eight minutes. Pua Kailiawa scored 12 off the bench. 

UH overcame 23 turnovers by outrebounding UTM 44-33 and shooting 49 percent to the Skyhawks’ 34.9 percent.
