Man charged in bank robbery
A 55-year-old man was charged Wednesday with bank robbery for an attempted robbery of the Kalihi branch of Bank of Hawaii on Monday.
Edward Juckel was being held without bail on the federal charge.
The incident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. at 1950 N. King St.
Police said the man demanded money from a teller, who gave him an undisclosed sum.
Officers arrested the man outside the front entrance of the bank at about 9 a.m., police said.
Ex-boyfriend held in assault
A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Kalihi Valley home and assaulted her.
The suspect entered the residence of a 30-year-old woman at about 8 a.m. and assaulted her, police said. After accompanying the victim to her car to retrieve personal items, the suspect again assaulted the woman, police alleged.
The victim ran into the home and tried to call for help but the suspect hung up the phone, police said.
The suspect, who listed no home address when he was arrested, is being held on suspicion of second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, abuse of a household member, abuse and interference with reporting a crime.
2 teens busted over graffiti
Two teenage boys were arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly spray-painting the tennis courts at Makiki District Park.
The suspects, ages 15 and 16, fled when police arrived just after 3:20 a.m.
Both suspects were identified by witnesses and were arrested on suspicion of criminal property damage.
