UH defensive back earns Mountain West honor
University of Hawaii defensive back John Hardy-Tuliau was named the Mountain West Conference defensive player of the week today.
Hardy-Tuliau had six tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups in the Warriors’ 48-10 victory over Nevada-Las Vegas Saturday.
Hardy-Tuliau, a junior from Temecula, Calif., returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown. It was UH’s first interception returned for a TD since Richard Torres 49-yard return at Louisiana Tech on Oct. 11, 2011.
The Warriors conclude their season Saturday against South Alabama at Aloha Stadium.
