Hawaii soldiers participate in disaster exercise with Chinese army
More than 20 Hawaii soldiers are in China for a disaster management exercise with the People’s Liberation Army.
The Fort Shafter-based soldiers will be in Beijing, Kunming and Chengdu for the Nov. 26 to Dec. 2 training focused on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
The scenario includes a fictional earthquake in a third country that results in U.S.-China military cooperation to provide aid, the Army said.
