A motorcyclist and his passenger from Canada were seriously injured Tuesday in an accident near the Turtle Bay resort on the North Shore.
Police Lt. Robert Towne said the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle, which slid off the road and collided with a golf cart driven by a maintenance worker on Turtle Bay property at about 12:45 p.m.
The motorcyclist was a 63-year-old man who was taken in critical condition to a hospital, Emergency Medical Services reported. The passenger, a woman in her 60s or 70s, was also taken to a hospital in critical condition. Her condition was later upgraded to serious.
Neither she nor the driver was wearing a helmet, and both suffered head injuries, according to EMS.
The maintenance worker was not injured, police said.
Kamehameha Highway at the resort was closed for about three hours.

75-acre Wahiawa brush fire nearly quelled
A Wahiawa brush fire that spread from the Kukaniloko Birthstones about a mile toward Lake Wilson, scorching about 75 acres of former pineapple fields, was 90 percent contained by late Tuesday afternoon.
No homes were threatened, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig. The cause of the fire, reported at 8:49 p.m. Monday near the birth stones, was not known, he said.
The burn area is bounded by Kamananui Road, Wilikina Drive, Kamehameha Highway and Lake Wilson.
More than 62 city and federal firefighters battled the brush fire overnight Monday.
Fire crews used nearly a mile of hoses to combat the blaze. Two city bulldozers were used Tuesday to clear a path for tankers.
