Man arrested in sexual assault of 4-year-old girl

Police arrested a 30-year-old Makaha man after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl.

The assaults allegedly occurred between June 1, 2011, and Oct. 28 of this year.

Police arrested the suspect at his home Wednesday on suspicion of three counts of third-degree sexual assault. The investigation is ongoing.

Police charge Big Island woman in robbery case

A Hawaii island woman has been charged in the robbery of a 68-year-old Hilo man.

Bail was set for Chasity-Ann Aiu-Horie at $17,000.

Police charged her Tuesday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree theft.

The Hilo man said that on May 25 he gave a couple a ride to a location in Hilo at 1 a.m., police said.

Another suspect, Timothy "Timmy" Russ Southern Jr., 26, was charged with the same offense last week.

Firefighters rescue woman, 22, injured on Maui hiking trail

Maui firefighters Friday rescued a 22-year-old woman who had fallen off a 20-foot cliff in the area of the Bamboo Forest Trail near Kailua.

The incident was reported at 3:53 p.m.

Rescue personnel flew in and stabilized the woman who had possible fractures to her shoulder, leg and face, firefighters said.

She was flown out by Fire Department helicopter to a landing zone above Hana Highway and transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
