Governor calls moment of silence for shooting victims
Gov. Neil Abercrombie is asking Hawaii residents to observe a moment of silence in honor of the 26 killed at a Connecticut school last week.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy asked all states to consider joining in a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. in their respective time zones on Friday.
Friday will mark one week since the shooting that killed 20 students and six school staff.
Malloy also asked churches and government buildings to ring their bells 26 times to honor the victims.
Abercrombie is encouraging facilities in Hawaii that have the capability to also toll bells.
