TUCSON, Ariz. >> Not long after Arizona knocked off Florida for its biggest win of the season, coach Sean Miller told his team not to get too high, to keep their focus. He told them the same thing the next day during the film session.

Seems the message got through loud and clear.

Showing no signs of a letdown after beating the Gators, No. 4 Arizona raced out to a big lead and never let up in an 89-64 rout over Oral Roberts Tuesday night.

“If you want to be labeled as a great team or a team that has a chance to win a national championship, you have to get over games like the Florida game,” Arizona forward Solomon Hill said.

Arizona (9-0) pulled off the improbable against then-No. 5 Florida on Saturday, overcoming a six-point deficit in the final 56 seconds for a victory that still had the campus buzzing on Monday. The Wildcats leave Thursday to play in the Diamond Head Classic, so it would have been easy to lose focus against Oral Roberts.

Arizona had no trouble staying in the present, hitting shots from everywhere and hounding the Golden Eagles (5-5) into mistakes while racing out to a 17-point first-half lead. The Wildcats kept rolling in the second half, hitting eight of 16 from 3-point range while shooting 57 percent overall and scoring 27 points off turnovers.

Mark Lyons led Arizona with 17 points and seven assists. Grant Jerrett added 15 points and fellow freshman Brandon Ashley scored 14.

No. 7 Ohio State 65, Winthrop 55

COLUMBUS, Ohio >> Deshaun Thomas scored 21 points — missing nine straight shots at one point and making five in a row at another — to lead the Buckeyes (9-1) past the Eagles (4-5).

Whether Ohio State was looking past Winthrop and ahead to Saturday’s matchup with No. 9 Kansas, or whether the Eagles just played well and the Buckeyes did not, the game was in doubt until Thomas got hot.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 14 points for the Buckeyes, who have won four in a row, all at home, since a 73-68 defeat at No. 2 Duke on Nov. 28 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

No. 9 Kansas 87, Richmond 59

LAWRENCE, Kan. >> Jeff Withey had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Ben McLemore added 14 points and the Jayhawks (9-1) used another big first-half run to put away the Spiders (9-3).

Kansas used an 18-0 first-half run to bury Richmond, pushing its home winning streak to 28 games, tied for the sixth-longest in school history.

Derrick Williams had 14 points and Cedrick Lindsay finished with 12 for the Spiders.

No. 18 San Diego State 76, Point Loma Nazarene 49

SAN DIEGO >> Xavier Thames scored 17 points and Chase Tapley added 15 as the Aztecs (9-1) beat the Sea Lions in a game considered an exhibition by the PacWest school.

It was SDSU’s ninth straight victory since losing the season opener to No. 3 Syracuse.

San Diego State next plays San Francisco in the Diamond Head Classic on Saturday.

No. 20 Michingan State 64, Bowling Green 53

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio >> Gary Harris and Denzel Valentine scored 12 points apiece to lead the Spartans (10-2) to a victory over the Falcons (5-5).

Michigan State held Bowling Green to just two points over a six-minute stretch in the second half to take control.

The Spartans went on a 14-2 run highlighted by Dawson’s dunk after a steal.

No. 25 N.C. State 88, Stanford 79

RALEIGH, N.C. >> Lorenzo Brown scored 18 of his season-high 24 points after halftime to help the Wolfpack (8-2) pull away against the Cardinal (7-4).

Scott Wood scored 15 of his 17 in the first half for N.C. State.

Dwight Powell led Stanford with 23 points.

Big West Conference

UCLA 89, Long Beach State 70

LOS ANGELES >> Jordan Adams scored 24 points, Shabazz Muhammad added 21, and the Bruins (8-3) defeated the 49ers (4-7) for their fourth straight win.

Dan Jennings, a West Virginia transfer, scored a career-high 27 points Long Beach State. The 49rs have lost  four of five.

California 68,  UC Santa Barbara 59

BERKELEY, Calif. >>  Freshman Tyrone Wallace had 10 points and 10 rebounds and the Golden Bears (7-3) held off a late run to beat the Gauchos (4-6).

Former walk-on Robert Thurman scored a season-high 14 points for Cal.

Kyle Boswell had 12 points for UCSB.

LSU 66, UC Irvine 60

IRVINE, Calif. >> Andre Stringer scored 19 points and the Tigers (7-1) held on to beat the Anteaters (5-7).

Shavon Coleman had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Anthony Hickey scored 10 points for LSU, which was coming off a loss to Boise State last Friday.

Adam Folker led UCI with 13 points.

UC Riverside 91, Whitter 62

RIVERSIDE, Calif. >> Davin Guinn scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and the Highlanders (3-8) recovered from one of the worst offensive performances in school history when rolling over the Division III Poets, which treated the game as an exhibition.

UC Riverside set a school record for fewest points in the shot-clock era in Saturday’s 70-26 loss to USC.

Cal State Northridge 93, San Diego Christian 63

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. >> Brandon Perry scored a season-high 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting, and the Matadors (8-3) cruised past the Hawks, considered an exhibition by the NAIA team.

Cal State Northridge came in ranked 11th in the nation in free-throw percentage (78.8 percent). It shot just 22-for-33 from the line but hit 53 percent from the floor.
