Mark Lyons made the game-winning free throws with 13.1 seconds left and No. 3 Arizona came up with a big defensive stop to win the 2012 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic over No. 17 San Diego State, 68-67, tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

SDSU’s Chase Tapley had a layup attempt for the win just before the buzzer, but he was rejected by the Wildcats’ Nick Johnson and the Aztecs couldn’t get a follow-up shot off in time.

There were 11 ties and 10 lead changes in the highly competitive game between two of the best teams in the West.

Forward Solomon Hill led the Wildcats (12-0) with 21 points and six rebounds. He was named tournament MVP.

Tapley led the Aztecs (11-2) with 19 points.
