Farrington Highway is closed in both directions near Kahe Point, a young woman was sent to the hospital in critical condition, and power is out in the area following a single-vehicle crash late this evening.

The woman, 18, was the lone  occupant of a vehicle that crashed into a telephone pole, knocking out power in the area, at about 10:25 p.m. the Department of Emergency Services said.

She was taken the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.

Honolulu police, meanwhile, shut down Farrington from Alii Nui Drive to Kahe Point to allow repair crews to deal with the downed lines.
