Suspect arrested in New Year’s Day shooting in Salt Lake
Police on Friday arrested a suspect in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting in the Salt Lake area, police records show.
The suspect, a 26-year-old man, allegedly pointed a semiautomatic pistol at two men in their 30s and a 25-year-old woman about 2:25 a.m Jan. 1 and fired at least six shots toward them, the victims told police.
A bullet grazed of the victims, and he was treated on-scene by Emergency Medical Services, police said.
The suspect was identified by two of the victims and arrested at 3 p.m. Friday on suspicion of one count of suspicion of attempted first-degree, three counts of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and firearms and ammunition violations, police said.
