Gerald Abella, left, and brother, Ellyson inspected a boulder that fell at 4:45 a.m., hitting a bedroom wall. The boulder came to rest inches away from Gerald's head as he was sleeping.

Heavy rains dislodged rocks and boulders in two areas of Oahu — Kalihi Valley and Hawaii Kai — early this morning, but did not cause any injuries or major damages, city officials said.

A home in Kalihi Valley was damaged after two boulders fell down the side of a mountain, at 1551 Nobrega St.

Fire officials said one boulder was 3 feet by 3 feet; while other measured 3 feet by 5 feet.

City Emergency Management Department officials said the Kalihi home abuts a slope that is privately owned.

There also was a minor rock slide at 6492 Hawaii Kai Drive this morning, but no injuries were reported.
