Pahinui, Landgraf receive fellowships
Hawaiian musician Cyril Pahinui and Kaneohe artist Kapulani Landgraf have each been awarded a $20,000 fellowship from the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation of Vancouver, Wash.
A dozen fellowships were awarded to individual artists in literature, dance, music, film, visual arts and traditional arts.
The nonprofit foundation fosters “the revitalization, appreciation and continuity of native arts and cultures,” according to a news release.
Also receiving a $20,000 grant was Christopher Kaui Morgan, a Native Hawaiian choreographer and dancer whose contemporary dance company, Christopher K. Morgan & Artists, is based in the Washington, D.C., area.
