Abandoned Waimanalo farmhouse destroyed by fire
An abandoned old Waimanalo farmhouse was destroyed by fire late Friday afternoon.
Fire investigators could not determine the cause of the fire.
There was evidence of squatters, after residents moved out three years ago, but investigators could not determine whether the squatters’ activity started the fire or it was intentionally set, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.
The two-alarm fire was reported at 4:45 p.m., brought under control at 5 p.m. and extinguished at 6 p.m.
The fire caused an estimated $5,000 damage to the dilapidated 700-square-foot, two-bedroom house at 41-937 Waikupanaha St.
