A domestic argument ended with a couple being arrested for stealing the car where the dispute took place in Waipahu.

Police said a 24-year-old man on Wednesday told police that he wanted to retrieve personal items from a car at a shopping center on Lumiaina Street. The officers had been called to the shopping center at 5:40 p.m. because of reports of an argument.

A 20-year-old woman told police that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend while she was driving the vehicle.

During the investigation police discovered that the license plate did not match the vehicle. When the vehicle’s ID number was checked it turned out to have been reported as stolen.

Both the man and woman were arrested in connection with the stolen car and the male was arrested for abuse.
