A 55-year-old Ewa Beach man was taken into custody early this morning and hospitalized following a two-hour stand-off after police were told he was armed and possibly holding a hostage.

Members of HPD’s Specialized Services Division were called to the home on Kaukolu Place around 10:45 p.m. Monday after the man refused to come out. Police said that he was with a female relative in the home.

Police later apprehended the pair as they tried to drive away from the home at 1 a.m. 

The man was taken into custody and transported to a hospital in good condition for a mental health evaluation.

Police said no arrests have been made.
