UH’s Squier to start season opener against No. 6 Oregon
Sophomore Scott Squier will start Hawaii’s 2013 baseball season opener against No. 6 Oregon on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
The 6-foot-6 left-hander went 3-4 with a 3.50 ERA during his freshman season and is the only returning pitcher who made more than three starts last year.
"I’m just excited," Squier said. "I’m ready to go get the job done."
Freshman Quintin Torres-Costa, who struck out 13 in six hitless innings for Waiakea in the state championship game last year, will start Game 2 against the Ducks on Saturday.
Senior Connor Little, who sat out all of the 2012 season with an ankle injury, will go on Sunday.
Little went 9-7 with a 6.47 ERA and made 20 starts from 2009-2011.
