Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in finding out what happened to a missing 51-year-old Japanese visitor whose rental car was found at the end of Route 130 and is believed to have been there since Thursday.

Police said Hiromichi Yoshino was last seen 8:57 a.m. Wednesday at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

His rented burgundy-colored Kia four-door sedan was found unlocked and unattended at a lava viewing area.

He may have been staying at a bed and breakfast in Volcano Village.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call officer Shea Nactor of Puna Patrol at 956-2716 or the Police Department’s nonemergency number at 935-3311.
