Outbreak of moths robs koa trees of their leaves

Trees in mature koa forests in East Hawaii are losing their leaves amid a sudden increase in the koa looper moth population. Caterpillars of the native moth, inset, are eating the leaves, the Department of Land and Natural Resources said Thursday.
