Chaminade splits in softball
Chaminade took advantage of an error to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past Simon Fraser 6-5 in the opener at Central Oahu Regional Park on Friday.
The Clan (3-6) won the nightcap 8-0 as Kelsey Hawkins held the Silverswords (1-3) to three hits.
Academy of Art sweeps Hilo in softball
Haily MacDonald scored on a delayed steal of home in the bottom of the ninth to help Academy of Art beat University of Hawaii Hilo 4-3 and complete a doubleheader sweep in PacWest Conference softball games Friday in Brisbane, Calif.
Emily Greene had two hits and two runs batted in for the Vulcans (6-7, 0-2 PWC). MacDonald had two hits and two RBIs for the Urban Knights (4-7, 2-0). Kimberly Dauer pitched a two-hitter for a 4-1 win in the opener.
HPU baseball falls to Northwest Nazarene
Hawaii Pacific blew a 7-0 lead and rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 10th before falling 14-13 to Northwest Nazarene at Hans L’Orange Field on Friday.
Russell Doi batted 4-for-6 and drove in two runs for Sea Warriors (4-3). Fernando Robles went 4-for-5 for the Crusaders, who are 5-1. The teams met later Friday night.
On Thursday, the Crusaders took advantage of seven Sea Warriors errors for a 10-3 victory.
