Police have arrested and charged one of two suspects in connection with a robbery last week in Kailua-Kona.

Alihilani Stringert, 25, of Kailua-Kona was charged Friday with kidnapping, assault, theft, robbery and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. A second man remained at large Monday.

Police said Stringert and another man brandished a handgun and a machete before assaulting and robbing two men, ages 36 and 37, on Feb. 17 at an apartment on the 75-5000 block of Lamaokeola Street. They took the 37-year-old man’s wallet and 10 grams of marijuana.

Police arrested Stringert Wednesday. Police ask that anyone who knows the name or location of the second robber to call the police nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Detective Jason Berryhill at 326-4646, extension 275. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
