Washington state tourist, 50, drowns
A 50-year-old visitor from Washington state who was pulled from waters off Kaaawa on Sunday morning has died.
The man was identified as Joe Kinnikin of Everett, Wash.
Kinnikin was reported swimming in an area near Keo Place and Kamehameha Highway when he got into trouble. He was taken in critical condition to an area hospital, where he later died.
50-foot fall puts man in critical condition
A fall down a 50-foot embankment in Kailua sent a man in his early 40s to the hospital in critical condition Sunday afternoon, paramedics said.
The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. in back of Castle Medical Center, according to the city Department of Emergency Services. No other information was available.
Suspect holed up in church is arrested
A man who barricaded himself in a Manoa church after an alleged burglary was arrested and taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, police said.
A crisis negotiation team responded to the incident Saturday at about 5:30 p.m.
