A Honolulu police officer was injured Saturday while trying to arrest a 42-year-old man on a warrant.

According to police, the officer stopped the suspect’s vehicle in Ewa Beach for an equipment violation. Upon investigation, the suspect was found to be wanted on a retake warrant. The suspect assaulted the officer during the arrest, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect was eventually restrained and arrested on suspicion of assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, driving without a license and the retake warrant.
