UH baseball: Rainbows end losing streak
Senior Corey MacDonald tossed his first complete game and Hawaii scored a season-high in runs to end a 10-game losing streak to start the year with an 8-3 win over LMU on Saturday at the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas.
Kalei Hanawahine went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs and Marc Flores was 2-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Hawaii (1-10), which had lost a record 12 in a row dating back to last year.
MacDonald (1-1) threw 101 pitches, giving up five hits and one earned run with two walks and five strikeouts.
MacDonald allowed a two-out double in the first and didn’t give up another hit until Joey Boney’s one-out single in the eighth.
Trevor Podratz singled and scored twice for UH, which had nine hits.
Hawaii will finish the tournament against host UNLV on Sunday at 4 p.m.
