Texan arrested as fugitive in sex assault
A 19-year-old Texas fugitive was arrested Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Hawaii Fugitive Task Force in a rented home in Keeau, Hawaii island.
Samuel Lawrence Adkins is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail in the Hawaii Community Correctional Center in Hilo awaiting extradition to Austin, Texas.
Adkins has been charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault regarding a July 30 incident in Austin. Adkins used the threat of deadly force in the incident, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
As task force officers approached the home, Adkins ran out the back door but was caught after a short chase, the Marshals Service said.
Hotel manager accuses worker of theft
Police arrested a 47-year-old hotel worker accused of theft Wednesday after the hotel manager discovered the employee was allegedly not making the cash deposits he was entrusted with.
Police said the manager discovered that deposits were not being made when the hotel’s accounting department reported it. An internal investigation revealed that more than $300 had been stolen since Feb. 11, police said.
The manager called police, who arrested the Pearl City man on suspicion of second-degree theft.
Police ask for help in locating Puna man
Hawaii County police are renewing their request for the public’s help to find a 47-year-old Puna man who was reported missing last year.
Robert Allen Park is described as Hawaiian, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 230 pounds with a bald head, brown eyes and a tan complexion. He may be in need of medical attention.
He was last seen at about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at a house on Pikake Street in Mountain View.
