Kaneohe Marine, 20, dies during training
A Kaneohe Bay Marine died Monday during training in California, the Marine Corps said Wednesday.
Pfc. Casey J. Holmes, 20, of Chico, Calif., died during an Integrated Training Exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
The training accident involved a vehicle, said Marine Corps Base Hawaii spokeswoman Capt. Pamela Marshall. No other details were released.
The Marine Corps said the incident is under investigation.
Holmes enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 2012 and joined the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in October.

Motorcyclist killed in crash
A man was killed Wednesday morning in a motorcycle crash in Wailuku, Maui police said.
Police identified the victim as Zaul Acevedo Gonzales, 40, of Wailuku.
Police said Acevedo Gonzales was driving a 2009 Yamaha R1 motorcycle north on Kauna Lipo Street about 10:20 a.m. when it crossed the centerline and hit a curb. Acevedo Gonzales and the motorcycle came to rest in the back yard of a home on Maka Hou Loop.
Acevedo Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was wearing a helmet.
It was Maui’s third traffic fatality of the year, the same number as at this time last year.
