Buffanblu coaches to speak at QB Club
Punahou boys soccer coach David Trifonovitch and girls coach Starr Johnson will be the guest speakers at the Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon today at the Maple Garden restaurant.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon. The cost is $15 per person. The public is invited.
UH falls short of sand volleyball gold
Two of its sand volleyball teams advanced to the semifinals, but Hawaii fell short in the Antelope Desert Classic in Phoenix.
UH’s five teams won first-round matches in the 15-team championship bracket.
The teams of Katie Spieler/Ginger Long and Natasha Bell/Tai Manu-Olevao made their way to the semifinals. Spieler and Long lost to Mackenzie Phelps and Shannon Sugan of Grand Canyon 13-21, 21-17, 18-16.
Bell and Manu-Olevao were beaten by Felicia Arriola and Litara Keil, who ended up winning the championship.
Harrison finishes 25th in platform diving
Hawaii’s Aimee Harrison finished in 25th place at the NCAA national championships in Indianapolis on Saturday.
Harrison also took part in the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the competition. In the platform, she finished with a five-dive total of 220.30, but didn’t make the final round.
