The public is advised to stay out of Moanalua Stream mouth where it enters into Keehi Lagoon at Nimitz Highway because waters samples show elevated bacteria levels.

The state Health Department said the cause could be the weekend’s heavy rains and a possible leak in a 43-inch sewage line in a culvert under the Nimitz viaduct.

The city is hiring a contractor to determine if a leak exists. As a precaution, the public is advised to stay out of Moanalua Stream mouth where it enters into Keehi Lagoon. Canoe paddlers, who use Keehi Lagoon, are advised to stay away from the Moanalua Stream mouth.
